Snapchat were already having a pretty bad month after Kylie Jenner managed to wipe almost $1 billion off their market value with a single tweet - and now the company has gone from the frying pan to the fire with its latest stunt.

Rihanna has condemned the social media platform for running an ad featuring her face for a mobile game called 'Would You Rather'. It appeared last weekend and posited the question: Would you rather slap Rihanna or slap Chris Brown?

Needless to say, the not-so-thinly-veiled reference to Rihanna's brutal beating at the hands of her former boyfriend didn't go down well at all. She took to Instagram to post a story (below) that said 'I'd love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain't that dumb! You intentionally spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV (domestic violence) victims and made a joke out of it!!!'

Snapchat responded to her condemnation by saying: "This advertisement is disgusting and never should have appeared on our service. We are so sorry we made the terrible mistake of allowing it through our review process. We are investigating how that happened so that we can make sure it never happens again.”

However, it seems that the damage has already been done, as the below tweet demonstrates:

Could this be the final nail in the coffin of the once-popular platform?
