Dublin rock trio Kid Karate have been around for several years - initially as a duo - and have already ticked some major boxes.

If you have an XBOX One, for example, you'll already have heard their song 'Louder', which was used as the console's start-up music.

Now, Steven, Ian and Kevin are preparing to follow-up their debut album (released in 2016) as a trio - so, as they're preparing to release new single 'No Way' - we sat them down to answer The Big Questions....

When did you first realise that you wanted a career in music?
When we accidentally started having a career in music. It was always a dream but I never thought I'd get to live it

What’s the music that you listened to growing up, that you still listen to today?
Talking Heads have always been a favourite.

In three words, describe the minute before you walk on stage.
Do warm ups.

What’s the one song you wish you’d written or recorded first?
'Psycho Killer' - Talking Heads

What song of yours are you most proud of?
Louder, as it been a bit of an unexpected gem for us.

What’s your favourite venue to perform in?
Crawdaddy :(

Your best and worst gig so far?
Playing after Alice Cooper at a festival in the middle of France to 6,000 people was one of the highlight shows, for sure. Worst gig would probably be the only one we ever missed due to traffic. We were supposed to play with Slaves and Drenge in the UK and spent seven hours stuck in on the motorway.

Whose career do you envy, and why?
Prince or Stevie wonder because of there virtuosity on almost any instrument.

Vinyl or digital downloads?
Vinyl! Gotta have that full fidelity audio, man.

Give your thoughts on Spotify in three words.
A great bunch of lads. Oops, that's five words.

Name one record, one book and one film that everyone should hear / read / see.
'Graceland' by Paul Simon, 'How Music Works' by David Byrne and 'The Holy Mountain' by Alejandro Hodorowsky.

Pick the director and lead actor(s) for a biopic about your life.
'Have You Seen My Keys?' - dir. (David Lynch), the Kid Karate story staring Jennifer Aniston as Kev Breen, John Taylor as Ian McFarlane and Shia LeBouf as Steven Gannon

You’re ordering take-out, what do you get?
Pizza, duh.

You’ve been given €100,000 to spend, but only 1 hour to spend it. What do you buy?
Music equipment and suits. I want a walk in humidor.

Describe your perfect day off.
Veg on couch with no pants on eating chocolate.

Finally, what does 2017 have in store for you?
We're releasing our second album and hopefully doing a lot a lot of touring.
