Spanish indie-rock quartet Hinds released their debut album 'Leave Me Alone' earlier this year and have been winning plaudits from all and sundry for their concoction of fuzzy rock, garage and lo-fi pop.

The Madrid band return to Dublin next week with a gig at The Academy on Tuesday, November 26th – so we nabbed them for a quick chat beforehand.

What’s the music that you listened to growing up, that you still listen to today?
Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Mecano.

When did you first realise you wanted a career in music?
The moment we started the band. The first ever time I played with Carlotta, we were dreaming already!

How do you wind down after a gig?
Beer, jumps and beer.

What song of yours are you most proud of?
Garden.

What’s your favourite venue to perform in?
A house party.

Your best and worst gig so far?
It's really impossible to say this. We've done 145 only this year.. but a really good one was in New York last tour. We had around 100 people coming on stage at the end of the show. We had a very weird gig in Vietnam last year, where we were headlining a festival in its first ever edition - I remember we had to go by jeep through the desert just to get to the stage.

Whose career do you envy, and why?
Arctic Monkeys, because they were faster than usss!!!

Vinyl or digital downloads?
Both. Vinyl as a memory of a night you don't want to forget and downloads for 90% of the time we spend in a van, plane, backstage and shower.

You can only have three albums on your phone/in your house at any one time - what three would you pick for today?
The Strokes - 'Is This It'
Woody Allen – 'Very Best of Soundtracks'
The Beatles – 'The White Album'

Name one piece of music memorabilia that you wish you owned
I really want to have the vinyl of King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard EP.. it's this 12" with only 4 songs.. 'God is in the Rhythm' is one of my favourite songs of last year.

Name one record, one book and one film that everyone should hear / read / see.
Record: Juan Wauters - 'N.A.P North American Poetry'
Book: Tom Sharpe - 'Wilt'
Film: 'Spotlight'

You’re ordering take-away, what do you get?
Chicken rice korma <3

You’ve been given €100,000 to spend, but only 1 hour to spend it. What do you buy?
A PRIVATE JET!!! We counted yesterday that in 2016 we've taken 60 exact flights..... do you know how much time we lose in lines and delayed flights?? We haaate flying.

Describe your perfect day off.
Perfect day off is in a sunny place, we can be happy only with that :)

What do you have in store for your Dublin audience?
CANT WAIT TO PLAY DUBLIN FINALLLYYYYY! We've barely played Ireland, I don't know why - but you Irish people were always so sweet with us. Put on your dancing shoes, only a few days left!
