Growing up in the '90s, Emma Lou may have been inspired by the likes of the Spice Girls and Britney Spears – but two decades on, the Dubliner has firmly settled on her own sound.

She's enjoyed the patronage of the likes of Paris Hilton and Calvin Harris in the past and now is looking to make an impact with her band The Agenda.

Ahead of their gig at Dublin's Workman's Club next Friday – and the release of their new EP 'Take Care' – we asked Emma Lou to answer entertainment.ie's Big Questions.

What’s the music that you listened to growing up, that you still listen to today?
Britney Spears, forever and always.

When did you first realise you wanted a career in music?
Probably when I was around 9, singing Britney songs into any and every karaoke machine that I could find.

In three words, describe the minute before you walk on stage.
Emmm…it’s usually just me running around making weird noises as a panicked last-minute attempt at vocal warmups. Sorry, that wasn’t 3 words.

How do you wind down after a gig?
Go home to my doggies, make some tea and read… I’m rock n’ roll like that.

What’s the one song you wish you’d written or recorded first?
Moon River. Although nobody could have done a better job than Auds…sigh.

What song of yours are you most proud of?
Probably the song that the new EP is named after, ‘Take Care’, I really love it.

What’s your favourite venue to perform in?
Any festival!

Your best and worst gig so far?
No worst only best, which was probably Electric Picnic last year on the Trailer Park stage... people were drunk and dancing, always a good sign!

Whose career do you envy, and why?
Can we change envy to admire? K thanks.. there’s no one person's career, but generally people who use their careers as a platform to help a greater cause. Like when Leonardo DiCaprio finally won an Oscar and he used his acceptance speech to raise awareness of climate change, I really loved that.

Vinyl or digital downloads?
Holy smokes, my grandad recently bought a record player to play all of his old vinyls on and my god, there is nothing like it. The whole listening experience is enhanced x100 with a record player, so definitely vinyl.

Give your thoughts on Spotify in three words.
I only need one: revolutionary. I’m really not good at this 3 word thing, am I?

You can only have three albums on your phone/in your house at any one time - what three would you pick for today?
La La Land soundtrack, Britney Spears' first album and Louis Prima’s greatest hits… all day, everyday.

Name one piece of music memorabilia that you wish you owned.
Anything belonging to Prince.

Name one record, one book and one film that everyone should hear / read / see.

Tell Mama by Etta James, The Chronicles of Narnia and Roman Holiday.

Pick the director and lead actor(s) for a biopic about your life.
Director: William Wyler. Actor: Goldie Hawn circa 1969.

You’re ordering take-away, what do you get?
Pizzaaaa!

You’ve been given €100,000 to spend, but only 1 hour to spend it. What do you buy?
Books and dogs, dogs and books.

Describe your perfect day off.
Ok, now I have 3 words: Dogs. Disney. Pizza.

Tell us why we should listen to your new single.
Well I don’t wanna get anyone’s hopes up, but it’ll possibly change your life…maybe. You’ll just have to listen to it to find out :)

What else do you have planned for 2017?
Our EP release gig in the Workman’s Club next Friday the 28th and some festivals over the summer - and then after that, who knows!
