Although R&B star Aaliyah died tragically young at the age of 22, her producer and friend Timbaland says that he has previously unreleased material of hers, and is planning to release it soon.

The star, who was famous for songs like 'Try Again' and 'More Than a Woman', died in a plane crash that also killed 8 others in the Bahamas in 2001, on the way back from a video shoot.

Nevertheless, she is regularly cited as an influence by many contemporary R&B artists, and her voice has been used in songs by Drake and Chris Brown in recent years.

Yesterday, her mentor Timbaland - who co-produced her albums 'One in a Million' and 'Aaliyah' - posted on Instagram that a 'sneak peak' (sic) of previously unheard material is on the way.

The post read:

"Attention!!!!! People ask me all the time do I have any babegirl music we haven't heard !!!!!well the answer is YES!!!!!!!! TIMBO x BABEGIRL !!!!! Sneak peak coming !!!!!!!"
