It goes without saying that 2017 has been another huge year for gigs – as the music industry has changed, it means that acts are artists at every level are hitting the road to make their money.

That's good news for us punters, as there's more choice for live music than ever before.

For example, are you more of an indie kid, and did Coldplay's spectacular explosion of colour and sound at their 'A Head Full of Dreams' gig in Croke Park float your boat? Did U2's 'Joshua Tree' homecoming at the same venue trump it? Perhaps Arcade Fire's euphoric summer gig at Malahide Castle holds a special place in your heart?

Pop fans had plenty to bop to, too - from Justin Bieber at the RDS; to Robbie Williams showing the kidz how it's done at the Aviva Stadium in June and his former bandmates Take That putting on another fab show at the 3Arena in May.

In terms of rock gigs, we were spoiled for choice, too. Who was at Guns N' Roses at Slane, Fleet Foxes' pastoral brilliance at the Iveagh Gardens or the always wonderful Elbow at Cork's Live at the Marquee?

Then there's trad supergroup The Gloaming's unforgettable stint at their spiritual home, the National Concert Hall... sure look, we could go on.

Of course, it's entirely possible that we're completely overlooking the best Irish gig of 2017 – in which case, be sure to let us know in the comments!
