Pigeons Sh*t in Kings of Leon Bassist's Mouth; Band Has Strop

26 July 2010

Tennessee outfit Kings of Leon were forced to abandon a performance in St. Louis as they were targeted by an army of dive-bombing pigeons. The Verizon Amphitheatre in Missouri had recently become infested with pigeons in the building's rafters and the band was bombarded as soon as they began their performance. Drummer Nathan Followill explained on Twitter: "So sorry St Louis. We had to bail, pigeons shitting in Jared's mouth and it was too unsanitary to continue. Don't take it out on Jared, it's the venue's fault. You may enjoy being shit on but we don't. Sorry to all who travelled many miles."

Kings of Leon weren't the only victims of pigeon bowels that evening. Support acts The Postelles and The Stills were also subjected to a barrage of excrement but they all managed to finish their sets.

An official Kings of Leon statement continued: "Jared (Followill) was hit several times during the first two songs. On the third song, when he was in the cheek and some of it landed near his mouth, they couldn't deal any longer. It's not only disgusting it's a toxic health hazard. They really tried to hang in there."

How's about that for a critical appraisal? You couldn't make this stuff up...
