It must have rankled Ringo Starr when Paul McCartney was knighted in 1997 - but 21 years later, he's finally got his own knighthood.

The Beatles drummer was knighted in a ceremony and will known be known as Sir Richard Starkey - or 'Sir Ringo', as he put it himself.

The 77-year-old - who received an MBE with his bandmates back in 1965 - was honoured for his 'services to music' at Buckingham Palace and told the BBC: "It means a lot actually. It means recognition for the things we've done. I was really pleased to accept this."
