Electric Picnic has revealed a brand new area for this year's festival - and it's certainly something a little different.

It's called 'Transmission' and will be situated on the edge of the woods close to the Jimi Hendrix campsite. After the success of last year’s glo-party, the aliens have returned with a psychedelic space bursting with theatrical magic and epic sounds - and they want to join the EP party!

Transmission is the brainchild of artists Ali Kemal and Gabrielle Brickle and their team, who have created a Vinyl Frontier DJ Booth, made from recycled material resembling a DIY pirate shack with space-like technology complete with satellite dish, antenna and aerials.

The centrepiece, meanwhile, is the impressive Mothership - essentially a UFO suspended from the trees whcih will provide "an intergalactic experience with gleaming lights and a 45 inset symbol on its underbelly, concealing webcams that will relay images of picnickers to its screens."

The idea is that the area will be a chilled-out place for Picnickers to enjoy during the day, while the evening will see DJs play mostly vinyl sets from the booth from twilight until late. There'll also be Human Pinball, Moon Walk, Alien Spider and a Live Art Stall creating space art out of recycled material.
