Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will roll back the years and perform together at the Grammy Awards, it has been announced.

McCartney is a nominee for several awards this year, among them Best Rock Song for the track 'Cut Me Some Slack' which Macca recorded with former Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, while Ringo will be honoured with the Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award.

McCartney and Starr won the Best New Artist award many moons ago at the same ceremony in 1965 and now - almost half a century later - will return to perform together for the first time since Ringo's 70th birthday in 2010.

Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2011, Ringo commented on the pair's current relationship. "We are good friends", he said. "We don't live in each other's pockets, but if we're in the same country, we get together. We're the only two who've experienced all this who are still here."

Metallica, Daft Punk and Stevie Wonder are also among the perform at the ceremony, which will be held on Sunday January 26th in Los Angeles.
