If you were on social media yesterday, you may have noticed more people than usual talking about Girls Aloud.

That's because yesterday marked the 15th anniversary of the formation of one of the best girl groups ever - and people were posting pictures, memories and songs from their brilliant back catalogue throughout the day.

Even Cheryl Tweedy managed to squeeze in a quick note on Instagram, revealing that she had met up with her former bandmates Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh for coffee and to reminisce.

The only thing was that Nadine Coyle and Sarah Harding - the two members who have kept themselves notoriously separate from the group over the years - were conspicuous in their absence. That said, Cheryl did tag them in the picture, so maybe we're just reading too much into it.

Anyway, see the pic and her heartfelt message below:

Sitting here drinking coffee with these two ☕ï¸? and watching babies 15 years later !!! Crazy how time flies... 😱 15 years ago today some of the best, craziest years of my life were just beginning. I had no idea what a life journey I was starting out on. We had some of the most amazing times of our lives and made some incredible pop moments ðŸ'ƒðŸ?» to put the cherry ðŸ?' on top.. In the end I left with these two amazing, inspiring gorgeous souls and the best friends anyone could ever ask for. Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh shared the same picture with the caption: "Girls day with these two today. It is crazy to think that 15 years ago today we were getting ready for our last live show on TV before the public decided who they wanted to make up GIRLS ALOUD. All of our lives completely changed forever. No going back. I’m confident in saying that those early years of the band will always truly be the wildest ride of my life both personally and as a group and no one other than the 5 of us knows how it felt. Happy 15 years Girls Aloud, @cherylofficial , @kimberleywalshofficial , @nadinecoyle , @sarahnicoleharding , our team & the Alouders. ♥ï¸?♥ï¸?♥ï¸?♥ï¸?♥ï¸?"

Walsh: "Happy 15th Birthday girls @cherylofficial @lilcola @nadinecoyle @sarahnicoleharding so proud of us and all we achieved! #HappyBirthdayGA #GirlsAloud15 #GirlsAloud"

Nadine Coyle, meanwhile, posted a short clip of 'Love Machine' on Wednesday with a short message referencing the release of their second album in 2004, but not their formation in 2002, while Harding did not post at all.
