Word of mouth is a wonderful thing. Dingle has been well and truly taken over by Other Voices, as it is this time every year, and now, as we approach the final of three shows inside St James’ Church, it’s time to fill you in on some of the gossip, hearsay and downright rumours that entertainment.ie has been privy to over the course of the past couple of days.

There’s Something Going Around

Paul Buchanan, unidentified members of The Unthanks, and a Stave are all under the weather. Buchanan had a bevy of cold medicines at the foot of his mic stand during his performance yesterday, the poor soul.

The Kids Are Alright

Cavan youngsters The Strypes will be signing a record deal very soon, possibly even by the end of the year. I had a chat with them on Saturday night and they told me that things are very close to being completed and that they have several offers from major labels on the table. Another source has told me that the lads are being offered “silly money”. All will be revealed, at the latest, by the end of January.

Insane In The Brain?

SOAK spent the night in a refurbished insane asylum in Sligo on her way to Dingle from Derry. And by “refurbished”, I mean that it’s a hotel now.

Dingle Seafood is the Bee’s Knees

The food here is phenomenal, even if we’ve had to skip several meals due to running about the place chasing interviews and so forth. The life of a journalist, eh!?

The Staves love Dingle

Having just completed an interview with the Staves, they told me that they’ve been coming to Dingle with their parents since they were children and know their way around better than practically any other performers on the bill. They’re also flying to Bangalore in a couple of weeks for an Indian music festival.

Aidan Gillen is intense

His eyes cut straight through you when he glances at you. That is all.
