One dead, nine stabbed at Swedish House Mafia Phoenix Park concert

Swedish House Mafia

One man is dead following a suspected drug overdose and nine people were injured in stabbing incidents at last night's Swedish House Mafia concert in Dublin's Phoenix Park. The deceased, who has yet to be identified, presented himself for treatment with on-site medical staff at around 7pm yesterday. He was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he was later pronounced dead.

A Garda spokesperson today said: "Gardai have not been able to identify this man and are asking family and friends to check that loved ones have arrived home safely from the event".
Two others died of drug overdoses in Dublin City Centre last night but it is not immediately apparent if they attended the Phoenix Park show.

Meanwhile, up to nine people were stabbed at last night's concert. The victims were all aged in their late teens and early twenties. It is understood that three of the victims have remained in Connolly Hospital for treatment, including one man who was stabbed several times in the back.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested for a number, but not all, of the stabbings.

Last night's Phoenix Park concert was the second of three shows taking place in the capital throughout the week. The Stone Roses headlined on Thursday night and tonight will see a double-bill of Snow Patrol and Florence + The Machine.

entertainment.ie Music Editor John Balfe, who was at both the Stone Roses and last night's Swedish House Mafia concerts, said this of last night's show: "It was immediately apparent upon entering the concert site that this was a very different crowd compared to Thursday night. The first thing I saw upon entering was a teenager being frog-marched out by Gardai and inside saw several fights, lots of drug-taking and people out of their mind on drink. It was quite an overwhelming experience at times."

Last night's concert also featured performances from Tinie Tempah and Snoop Dogg.

This is really awful, my daughter was there with her friends and one of them was attacked by a young wan because she accidentally spilled her drink on her. This wan scratched her neck, head-butted her and bruised her badly.Because of this, they left the Phoenix park early and missed the main event; Swedish House Mafia.....it was all different in my day!!!

They should have an outright ban on track suits at these events, would help to keep the scumbag numbers down.
