It's not exactly the sort of harmonious musical collaboration you'd expect, but Hozier, Noel Gallagher, Florence & the Machine, Spandau Ballet and more high-profile act have all joined forces to contribute to a charity single.

The Boob Project is the brainchild of Greg McQuaid, who is an Irish DJ on San Francisco radio station KFOG. He came up with the idea of enlisting musicians to record a charity single in aid of Breast Cancer Research, and the result is 'Boob Spelled Backwards Is Boob'.

If that sounds like it might have been written by an 8-year-old, well, that's because it was. The song's lyrics were written by KFOG DJ Mike Nelson's son, whose mother is currently fighting breast cancer.

The first artist to contribute to the song was Michael Franti back in January, who played the guitar part of the song. Since then, other high-profile musicians have added their own parts to the song and each updated version has been played on the station throughout the year.

As well as the artists listed above, other contributors to 'Boob Spelled Backwards is Boob' include Graham Nash, Steve Earle, Vance Joy and many more.

The finished single and the accompanying video will be revealed on October 1st and you can read more about The Boob Project here.
