That Westlife reunion might be a bit further in the distance than fans first thought.

Nicky Byrne has been the only member of the band not to pursue a solo career in music to date, although that will change when he represents Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest next week.

The 2FM DJ has spoken about his time in the band with Hello magazine, saying that he felt embarrassed not to ever get the chance to sing the lead vocal on any of their songs.

He said: "In my heart there was burning embarrassment and frustration that you're buried. But when you enter a band like Westlife, you effectively win the lottery and count your lucky stars. On tour is where I came alive."

He releases his debut solo album, called 'Sunlight', this Friday - and you can hear his Eurovision entry below:
