Mumford & Sons have been forced to postpone a number of dates on their US tour as bass player Ted Dwayne has been admitted to hospital for emergency brain surgery.

A statement on the band's website read: "Our friend and bandmate Ted has been feeling unwell for a few days, and yesterday he was taken to a hospital to receive emergency treatment. The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery."

The statement added that they currently have no plans to cancel their scheduled dates at Glastonbury and T In The Park this summer. The same is presumably true of their scheduled concert in Dublin's Phoenix Park on July 14th.

The band are also scheduled to play their biggest headline show to date at London's Olympic Park on July 6th, alongside Vampire Weekend, Ben Howard, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Haim and Bear's Den.
