More details on The Postal Service reformation
The Postal Service will indeed reform in 2013 as we suggested yesterday. Lest we get too carried away though, don't expect much in the form of new material. The band - which is comprised of Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard and Dntel's Jimmy Tamborello - released a message on their official website yesterday, which simply stated: "The Postal Service: 2013." Now it appears clearer exactly what they meant...
Initial speculation suggested that a new record might be on the way. A second Postal Service album has been strongly rumoured since about 2007 or so but Gibbard's tricky schedule with Death Cab always put paid to that idea but what of a 2013 release?
Sub Pop have confirmed that they will release a tenth anniversary edition of the band's only album to date, Give Up, shortly and that the band have signed up to play the Coachella Festival and that "additional dates and festivals are also in the works."
Sure, it's not new material - but it's better than nothing. Now, who do we petition over here to get The Postal Service added to an Irish festival line-up. Paging Electric Picnic...
