Justin Bieber made headlines on his 'Purpose' tour last year when he began selling t-shirts featuring shock-rocker Marilyn Manson for almost $200 apiece.

The limited edition merch apparently came with the blessing of Manson, after the pair were pictured together earlier in 2016 on a night out in Los Angeles.

However, it seems that their friendship was in jeopardy in recent days after Manson made some pretty disparaging comments about the pop star in an interview with Consequence of Sound, saying: "He said to me [when they met up at a later date], ‘I made you relevant again.' Bad mistake to say to me. He was a real piece of shit in the way he had the arrogance to say that.'

Now, in a new interview with on Sirius XM, Manson revealed that Bieber texted him after reading the comments and read out the exchange that they had, saying that Bieber wrote: "Bro, it’s Bieber what’s up with that article? I thought we had a pretty pleasant interaction. Also, if anything wasn’t squared away with the T-shirts I’m so sorry” and “Anyway, regardless, it kind of stung seeing that if I came off as an asshole or was just an asshole I’m sorry.”

Manson then backtracked and claimed that his comments had been 'exaggerated', saying "You were just you being you. No beef here", adding to the radio host: “I just said ‘you were just being you,’ which could mean you’re just being an asshole, or whatever.”

Bieber then apologised yet again, saying "Honestly, I totally thought we hit it off. Again, my bad, if I was an asshole that wasn’t my intention. Just want you to know that.”

Manson concluded the exchange by suggesting that they collaborate and somehow managing to maintain that he thought Bieber was still an asshole: "We are cool. People just made that shirt stuff into a fake feud. Let’s turn it upside-down and fuck the press and do something together. It will be the best. And don’t apologise, you weren’t an asshole. They asked if you were and I sort of agreed. I wasn’t out to get you.”

A Bieber-Manson collaboration? Stranger things have happened...
