R Kelly must be a busy man in the lead-in to the release of his new album, the horrifically titled 'Black Panties', next month as he apparently couldn't find the time to attend his own gig.

According to several disgruntled fans, R Kelly was scheduled to appear at the Monroe Civic Centre on Saturday but they began to notice something was amiss when the singer hadn't appeared on stage by well after midnight. Then, at around 1am, a person who bore a resemblance to the singer appeared on stage and performed R Kelly songs - but it was allegedly an imposter. You can see footage of the incident in the video below.

A person who attended the gig, who wished to remain anonymous, was quoted by another outlet as saying: "the advertisement online through Ticketmaster said that it was a Ced's All Black Affair and R Kelly performing live, which did not happen last night. We was scammed because 10 o'clock was there, no R Kelly. 11 o'clock: no R Kelly, 12 o'clock: no R Kelly, 12:45: no R Kelly. 1 o'clock, here comes an impersonator."

The show's promoter Cedric Johnson initially said he was "duped" and promised a full refund to anyone who attended the show but has since backtracked on those plans claimed that he had been hacked and didn't send this message.

You couldn't make this up, folks.
