Wednesday afternoon. Excitement building. Weather forecast being ignored. Wellies not yet purchased. It's turning out to be that same ritual as every other year, then. In our latest instalment of acts to keep an eye on at this year's Electric Picnic, we shine the spotlight on and up n' coming Irish acts, as well as some overseas acts who are deserving of mention. Don't forget to cast a glance over our first and second list of recommendations and to keep an eye on our summer festivals page for all the latest news, updates and information.

The Danger Is - Sunday | Cosby Stage | 12pm

Niamh Farrell AKA The Danger Is, is one act who we expect to make a big splash in the coming months. Having already had some festival experience this summer (we caught her outstanding performance at Sea Sessions) The Danger Is should be readly, willing and able to provide some serious festival fun for concert-goers.

Best Coast - Sunday | Cosby Stage | 9.15pm

Bethany Cosentino's Best Coast have been atop many critics 'Best of' lists since their self-titled debut album came out in2010. Drew Barrymore is clearly among their fans too, as she directed the music video to their latest song Our Deal.

DJ Shadow - Friday | Electric Arena | 10.45pm

DJ Shadow is widely (and rightfully) recognised as one of the pioneers of the modern hip-hop movement and has constructed a series of masterpieces from samples and beats, notably from his Entroducing album. The Californian releases his next LP The Less You Know, The Better shortly after the Picnic, so expect lots of new material.

Interpol - Friday | Main Stage | 10.30pm

Along with Pulp and The Chemical Brothers (not to mention Arcade Fire), Interpol are one of the 'marquee' names on the bill. Paul Banks and co. are regular visitors to Ireland but this is to be their highest profile show to date.

Beirut - Sunday | Main Stage | 6.45pm

Zach Condon has proven to be one of the successes of the mid-00's indie movement. His band Beirut released some of the most satisfying music of the time, especially his The Flying Club Cup release from 2007. Condon's new album The Rip Tide is due for release around Picnic time, so he's another artist from who you should expect plenty o' new songs.
