Libertines Drummer Forms New Band

Libertines Drummer Forms New Band

29 July 2010

After limited success with Dirty Pretty Things and their two albums, Libertines drummer Gary Powell has started a new band under the name The Invasion Of...

The five piece band are set to release a mini album this summer, having spent some time recording new material in secret. Heineken Music reports that the band's sound will be very different to either of his previous endeavours.

According to Powell, "It would have been easier for me to set it up with other musicians from other bands and follow their lead, but instead I decided to get things going with friends, regardless of their musical background. It has worked out better than I could have ever imagined as the musicians I play and work with have surpassed my wildest expectations."

The Libertines are set to play their first reunion show in London this summer ahead of scheduled slots at the Reading and Leeds festivals, where The Invasion Of... are also set to play.
