He may be 44 years of age, but he's still Peggy Gallagher's youngest son.
You may have seen the video of Liam Gallagher playing a song in JJ Finan's pub in Charlestown, Co. Mayo in 2015; the Oasis man was in his mother's homestead visiting family when a guitar was put in his hand, and well, it'd be rude not to.
The song he played that night, 'Bold', actually ended up on his forthcoming debut solo album 'As You Were' - and he's spoken more about his time in Mayo in a new interview with NME.
When asked about what he does when spending time in the west, he said "I chill around the house, I go to the pub and have the craic, and then I get a b*****king off me mum like [puts on Irish accent], “Stay out the f**king pub.’ Normally I’m good and I keep me head down, but I must’ve been in a good mood that day", adding that he wasn't sure how he ended up playing the guitar that night: “F**k knows, mate. Guinness.”
In the same interview, Gallagher discusses his feelings on Harry Styles ("If he wants to get out of that pop world and into something with a bit more substance I think that’s a good thing"), being known as 'the guy from Oasis' ("It doesn’t matter who wrote the f**king songs and who f**king sung them, I’m the one that f**king took them for a walk on the wild side. I’ll always be Oasis, man, that’s my f**king first love.") and constantly having a pop at Noel ("I’ll always do it ’cos it’s fun. I f**king find it funny anyway. A lot of people tell me to grow up, but I’m not growing up, mate.")
He also mentioned that he'll sing various Oasis songs when playing live - which is good news for fans planning to head to his just-announced gig at Dublin's Olympia on June 10th.
