For a few days now Led Zeppelin have been teasing a countdown on their official Facebook page. There had been some serious (if unlikely) speculation that Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones might be getting ready to announce a comeback tour, but when that countdown expired today any fans who harboured an unlikely ambition to see the legendary band in person were disappointed.

What was revealed, however, was the upcoming release of Celebration Day, a DVD chronicling the band's one-off 2007 concert in The O2 in London. Over 20 million people tried to get tickets for the show, with only 18,000 of them being successful and the two-hour concert will now make its way to DVD and cinema theatres.

The film of Celebration Day will see a worldwide theatrical release by Omniverse Vision on 1,500 screens in over 40 territories, including Ireland on October 17. The theatrical screenings will follow premieres in London, Los Angeles, New York, and other major cities. Tickets for the public screenings will be available on September 13 via ledzeppelin.com.

This will be the second live Led Zeppelin DVD, following 1976's The Song Remains The Same.
