Lark In The Park, the Belfast festival which was to be headlined by Razorlight, Athlete, The Divine Comedy and Tinchy Stryder over the May bank holiday weekend, has been cancelled. The festival would have taken place at Moira Demesne Park just outside the city between Friday April 29th and May 1st but poor ticket sales mean that it cannot now go ahead.

The festival's chairperson Mandie Brankin issue the following statement:
"It is with deep regret that we have had to cancel this year’s Lark in the Park. Various factors played a part but primarily the current economic climate and its knock-on effect on our ticket sales have lead to this decision. Lark in the Park would like to thank all those who have given their support to our event and we hope that we can re-group and hold the event again next year. All those who have tickets can return to point of purchase for a full refund."

It's a terrible shame, but with competition from the likes of Belsonic, Open House and the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, poor Lark In The Park never stood a chance.
