In news that will surprise, well, pretty much nobody, Lady Gaga looks set to become the first performer to play a live gig in space. Us Weekly is claiming that Gaga will sing a song from a Virgin Atlantic spaceship in 2015, which will then be beamed to a music festival called the Zero G Colony festival in New Mexico.

Gaga has reportedly taken out a huge life insurance policy should things start to look like a sequel to Gravity up there, while she is also understood to have looked into doing a month a special vocal training so as to learn how to sing in a different atmosphere.

The Zero G Colony event will take place at Spaceport America with Gaga's performance from the stars set to begin at dawn on the last day of the festival. Wouldn't festivalgoers rather just see Gaga live in concert in person and not in a hugely self-indulgent set from the cosmos? Yes, most likely, but where's the fun in that?
