Well, this sure makes a difference from 'technical difficulties' - although technically, that is a valid excuse in this case.

German electronica pioneers Kraftwerk have been forced to cancel their show in Buenos Aires, Argentina less than two weeks before it was due to take place for a unique reason: the city has imposed a ban on performances by any band that uses "synthesizers or samplers as their primary instrument.”

The band was enacted earlier this year after five people died of drug overdoses at Time Warp, an EDM festival. Although a Kraftwerk show is about as far removed as you can get from EDM, the ban means that their gig was cancelled despite 70% of tickets being sold.

“They use synthesizers but it has another format," the promoters argued. "It is a concert for all audiences that lasts between an hour and a half and two hours; And no alcoholic beverages are offered."

Kraftwerk are due to play two shows at Dublin's Bord Gais Energy Theatre on June 2nd and 3rd, 2017.
