The Yeah Yeah Yeahs will perform at this year's Lollapalooza as a replacement for the Beastie Boys, whose Adam Yauch (MCA) was recently diagnosed with Parotid gland cancer. According to Lollapalooza officials, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will perform in the Saturday headline slot, giving attendees an alternative to Tool who also headline that night. Various other festivals are affected by the Beasties cancellations, including All Points West, Outside Lands and Austin City Limits.
As we initially reported yesterday, the Beastie Boys were forced to postpone all their scheduled dates for the foreseeable future, as well as the release of their forthcoming album Hot Sauce Committee, Part 1 following Yauch's diagnosis. Fortunately, the cancers hasn't spread, won't affect Yauch's voice and is very treatable. He is expected to make a full recovery.
