Kanye West will receive the 'Michael Jackson Video Vanguard' award at this year's VMAs, which take place in the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles this Sunday.

The rapper - who has been nominated for over 30 VMAs over the years, although he's only won two - will receive the award in recognition of his "innovative music videos and live performances and continued work in music, art and fashion."

Memo to VMA organisers: pleeeeeeeeeease get Taylor Swift to present it to him. How brilliant would that be?

In other VMA-related news, word on the live performers has begun to trickle in, with Pharrell, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Demi Lovato, A$AP Rocky and Tori Kelly all set to play on the night. The Weeknd will also perform his new hit 'Can't Feel My Face' and Taylor Swift - who is nominated for 10 awards - will premiere her new video for 'Wildest Dreams' on the night.

Miley Cyrus will host the ceremony.

The full list of nominees can be seen here.
