Johnny Marr announces Irish date

Johnny Marr, the guitar genius behind The Smiths, has announced an Irish date. Marr will play The Academy in Dublin on Wednesday March 27th.

Marr's debut solo album The Messenger will be released on February 22nd and is available to order now on iTunes.

Marr and The Smiths were in the news in October of last year when rumours emerged that the Manchester band were to reform for a tour but Morrissey put paid to that idea in typical fashion, saying: "The Smiths are never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to reunite - ever."

Tickets are on sale Friday 25th January at 9am.
