It was just eight years ago when James Blunt sold 11 million copies of his breakthrough album Back To Bedlam, a record characterised by saccharine hits like 'You're Beautiful' and 'Goodbye My Lover' which shot to the summit of the charts. Throughout all of his success though, Blunt, a former member of the UK military services, found it difficult to shake ridicule which accompanied his success.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Blunt indicated he wants to distance himself from music - at least for a while. "I just want to take some time out for myself", said Blunt. "I haven't got any more plans to do more songwriting. I have been chilling out since I finished my world tour and I've spent a lot of time in Ibiza, where I have a villa".
Blunt's most recent album 'Some Kind of Trouble' was released in 2010 but the singer has found it difficult to achieve anything close to the success of 'Back To Bedlam'.
Recently, Blunt's mother defended him from "posh-bashers" in the press, stating that people unfairly bashed him and his music because of his perceived upper class upbringing.
