It's the end of an era, as Apple have officially discontinued the once very-popular iPod Nano and iPod shuffle.

That means that the only iPod that remains on the market is the iPod Touch, with two models of differing storage capacities.

The iPod Classic was discontinued in 2014 after the iPhone 6 was launched, and given that most people listen to their music on their phones these days (except for Baby in Baby Driver, perhaps), the iPod is becoming increasingly obsolete.

A spokesman for Apple confirmed to The Verge: "Today, we are simplifying our iPod lineup with two models of iPod touch now with double the capacity starting at just $199 and we are discontinuing the iPod shuffle and iPod nano."

In Ireland, the iPod Touch is available in 5 different colours for €229 (32GB) and €349 (128GB).

So basically, if you have either of the aforementioned models of the revolutionary music player in your possession, get them in a display case, stat - there's bound to be a resurgence of interest in say, 50 years or so...
