Sad news this morning as British indie band Wild Beasts have announced that they are to split up.

The Lake District quartet, who released five albums - the most recent being last year's 'Boy King' - made the announcement with a post on social media this morning.

"Our hearts and minds have been devoted to the band since we were teenagers," it read. "We've created something quite of our own and built a body of which which we stand by as heartfelt and true.

"The four of us have decided, for our own reasons and in our own ways, that it is now time to leave this orbit."

They have, however, promised that "further announcements" will be made in terms of 'celebrating' with the fans, which means that the foursome may embark on one last tour.

Their most recent Irish date was at Castlepalooza last month.
