So, the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards took place last night (see Sheena's Red Carpet breakdown here). While the ceremony was studded with big pop performances from the likes of Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera and Bruno Mars as well as high profile duets from Cee-Lo Green and Gwyneth Paltrow, Justin Bieber and mentor Usher as well as Drake and a just-recovered-from-laryngitis Rihanna, it was Arcade Fire that proved there's still a place for rock music at the Grammys.
The Canadian indie giants beat of competition from some of the night's biggest stars, Katy Perry, Eminem, Lady Antebellum and Lady Gaga, to take home the Grammy for Album of the Year for their album 'The Suburbs'.
According to reports, the band were shocked and overwhelmed by the win, with frontman Win Butler exclaiming, "What the hell?" before going over their allotted stage time with an unscheduled performance of 'Ready To Start'.
"Music has really changed each of our lives. So when we make a record, we really put all of our soul into it and we work so hard.
"So to be recognised for that, in the age of the iPod or the age of the single or whatever it is. We still really care about records, so it means a lot to us."
Meanwhile, The Black Keys and Muse also gallantly represented rock, the former picking up the award for Best Alternative Album and the latter winning Best Rock Album as well as performing their 2009 single 'Uprising' live at the ceremony. And despite the fact that they're not on the awards list, it was equally as big a night for Marcus Mumford and co., who got to play live with the iconic Mr Bob Dylan alongside fellow folksters The Avett Brothers.
