Record Store Day, the annual global celebration of independent music retailers, takes place this Saturday, April 21st with a number of Irish stores participating in the 11th event.

As well as having a number of exclusive RSD vinyls in stock, Dublin's Tower Records is running a vinyl record sale that will last until Sunday, April 22nd. On the day itself, they will have several acts - including The Hot Sprockets, The Fontaines DC and Today FM's Claire Beck - DJing in-store at their Dawson Street branch throughout the day.

They'll also have several deals in place with other outlets, including Wowburger on Wicklow Street (show your Tower receipt to get a burger and pint of Heineken for €10), will be handing out free Teddy's 99 ice creams at Dawson Street and will be running a raffle with prizes including various gig tickets and an RSD-branded turntable.

Golden Discs is also planning a number of special events for Record Store Day, including RSD exclusive, deals on music (up to 40% off some items) and turntables/decks (up to 50% off).

They'll also host in-store performances at the following locations:

Golden Discs in Newbridge will have Wayfarer instore performing.
At Golden Discs in Athlone singer/songwriter Skywriter will be performing in store at 1.30pm.
In Golden Discs in Wexford dreampop duo Frankenstein Bolts will be performing at 1pm followed by Rachel Grace (winner of Wexford’s Got Talent) at 4pm.
In Golden Discs on Patrick St in Cork, one of Cork’s best loved DJs Ian Richards will be spinning discs throughout the day.
In Golden Discs Limerick will have DJ Toby playing vinyl 1-4pm
In Golden Discs in Waterford local band Crome Yellow are performing followed by De Zoot. In addition, staff members will be playing vinyl only all day.
In Golden Discs in Dundrum Town Centre Molly Sterling will be playing live from 1pm

Dublin's Freebird Records (on Wicklow Street) will host live in-store performances from 2pm from Trouble Pilgrims, The Hot Sprockets, Maria Kelly, Dowry and Recep Yurtsaver.

Rollercoaster Records in Kilkenny promises "dodgy DJing, Rice Krispie buns and healthy sarcasm", while Malojian will play a solo show at Cleere's Theatre later that night for RSD.

All City Records in Dublin will host live sets throughout the day from acts including Automatic Tasty, Defekt & Moving Still, alongside DJ sets by Melly, Bitflower BB, Wagon, Aoife O'Neil, Neighbours, Fio'n'Jio, Doug Cooney, Soft Boy, One CP, Phil Cooper, Jamie, Tomo & more, with music being broadcast live from the shop all day on dublindigitalradio.com.

Limerick'sSteamboat plans live performances from acts including Little Hours, Windings, Paddy Hanna, Pity of the Sea, Inner City Radio and The Flag Listeners.

Music Zone in Douglas Shopping Centre, Cork has a day of 'rare and bespoke vinyl releases' in store, as well as a programme of live performances:
