The Sunday Times' Rich List for 2016 isn't published until this Sunday, but one of the categories - that of 'Richest Music Millionaires' - has been revealed.
The Irish names in the Top 50 won't come as any surprise, with the likes of Van Morrison, Enya (€117 million) and U2 (€641 million) making the grade and laughing at us peasants from their lofty financial heights. U2 earned a massive €88 million last year, mostly as a consequence of their hugely successful 76-date 'Innocence + Experience' tour.
In terms of overall wealth, Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell retain their spot at #1 with a combined wealth of €974 million, with an increase of €38 million in the past year alone.
Andrew Lloyd-Webber is hot on their heels at €917 million, while U2, Elton John (€359 million) and Mick Jagger (€301 million) round out the top 5. The wealth of the other members of The Rolling Stones combines to make them the richest band.
Other names of note on the list include Calvin Harris, whose wealth is estimated at €122 million, with an increase of €32 million in the past year; Adele is at number 30, with an estimated wealth of €109 million (up €45 million), and the members of Coldplay, who are at €83 million (Chris Martin) and €71 million (the other ones), respectively.
A new entry this year is 'Iman Abdulmajid, Duncan Jones and family' - i.e. the widow and son of the late David Bowie - who are at #29 with €115 million, which includes €90 million left in Bowie's will, their own wealth and the royalties generate from his music since his death.
The only artists on the list who have lost money in the past year are Liam and Noel Gallagher, whose estimated combined wealth of €83 million dropped by €15 million last year. Time to get those Oasis reunion plans out, lads.
