Not only are Axl, Slash and co. Slane-bound this coming Saturday for the first time in 25 years, but there's a big announcement coming from the band at some point today, too.

The band are expected to announce more North American dates on their 'Not in This Lifetime...' tour, posting a clip to Twitter that's sure to raise the excitement levels of anyone heading to the Co. Meath venue this weekend.

In the meantime, Gardai and promoters MCD have issued a safety notice detailing what you can and can't bring with you to the concert (a summary of which is below), as well as info relating to public transport and traffic guidelines to and from the venue.

More than 400 Gardai and 1200 security members will be on site on the day.

Gates will open at 2pm and although stage times have not yet been released, they're expected in the coming days.

 

TRANSPORT

Dublin Bus
Dublin Buses depart between 12:00 – 16:00 every 30 mins, from Parnell Square West outside the Rotunda Dublin, and will return straight after the concert.

Marathon Coach
From Dublin to Slane: Departure from Custom House Quay. Pick Up every half hour from 11.00 until 17.00. Return from Slane directly after concert from Dublin Transport Hub (closest bus stop to Slane Castle concert) to Custom House Quay.

Taxi Drop Off and Pick up
Please see map for dedicated Taxi & drop off and Pick up locations. Essential to please note due to Road closures you must return to the relevant pick up location by 9.30pm. After this time, due to road closures, Gardai will be unable to allow access.

Car Parking:

DRIVING TO THE EVENT
If driving by car to the event, please allow plenty of time.
Traffic & Parking delays are inevitable. Plan your route in advance, and check in with AA Road watch for traffic-related reporting.
Please note all Car parks are operated independently of the Promoter MCD and a car parking charge will apply.

VIP & ACCESSIBLE CUSTOMERS
VIP & Accessible customers are strongly advised they MUST approach from Navan via N51 to access designated VIP& Accessible car parking. Please note: You will only be permitted access to VIP & Accessible car park with

SAFETY

Dress appropriately and always be prepared for the Irish weather, bring Wellington boots and suncream. Allow plenty of time for concert entry procedures, ticket checks and searches. Please note the location of Entry / Exit Gates, Emergency Exits, First Aid Posts and Water Points and keep to lighted exit routes when exiting the Venue. For your own safety please co-operate with stewards and Gardaí and follow any loudspeaker announcements.

Information updates will be provided via the Garda Twitter (@GardaTraffic) in the run up to the event and on the day itself.

Traffic Diversions:
Traffic diversions will be put in place commencing on Saturday, the 27th May 2017 for all through traffic. Local access will be restricted.

Patrons are being strongly advised to use public transport where possible. Car parking is only available on the Drogheda, Collon and Kells Roads. There are no Car parks available on the Navan Road and the N2 South of Slane. Any cars approaching from the Dublin direction must travel via M1/Drogheda or the M3 via Navan.

No parking will be permitted on roadsides, and any cars causing an obstruction will be towed away.

Car park conditions are weather dependant and limitations may apply. Patrons can expect possible delays on exiting car parks.

Non Event Traffic

• Non Event Traffic travelling northbound on the N2 will be diverted by signage at Kilmoon Cross towards Duleek / Drogheda and again at Curtis’s Cross towards Navan or Duleek.

• Non Event Traffic travelling on the N2 from the North will be directed towards the M1 in Ardee, Daly's cross and at Collon village.

• Non Event Traffic approaching Slane from Drogheda will be diverted via Collon.

• Non Event Traffic approaching from Navan will be diverted at Wickers Cross.

• Non Event Traffic approaching from Kells will be diverted by signage via Navan (kilberry).

• Motorists who need to travel between Navan and Drogheda (or vice versa) should travel via Kentstown and Duleek

Camping:

There are no official camp sites at this event as it is a one day event.

Emergency routes:

In the event of an emergency at or near the event site, two emergency routes will be in place. The emergency routes will be sign posted and any vehicle found to be causing an obstruction will be removed. This route will be patrolled by designated motor cyclist to ensure unrestricted passage.

• Never leave the keys in the ignition.

• Close all windows and lock all doors.

• Park in Authorised car parks.

• Never leave property in your vehicle.

• Do not attempt to 'disguise' it with a coat or another article.

Property and relaxation.

When in public places take care of your property. Keep it within view at all times, and do not leave it under tables or seats while relaxing.

Be aware of the dangers of pickpockets, particularly in crowded areas. Be careful with your travel documents , cheques, money etc. Never leave them unattended in vehicles. It is worth bearing in mind that most thieves are opportunists, and are looking for an easy target at such venues, pop concerts etc.
