It's been a big day for nominations, hasn't it? The Oscar noms were unveiled earlier today and now, hot on its heels, the nominations for the Brit Awards have been announced.

Scottish singer Emeli Sande looks set to continue her success from last year into 2013, having picked up four nominations in total. Sande is up for Best Female and Best Album, as well as having two songs in category for Best Single.

Elsewhere, more than 50 years after their first gig the Rolling Stones have been nominated for Best British Live Act on the back of their successful run of shows towards the end of last year.

Amy Winehouse is the posthumous recipient of a nomination for Best British Female, after unreleased material saw the light of day last year.

The aforementioned Emeli Sande, Mumford & Sons and Mercury Award winning Alt-J lead the nominations.

The 2013 Brit Awards will be held on 20th February in The O2 Arena in London.
