A new study has determined that the average festival goer can burn a serious amount of calories during a three-day period.

Withings, a tech company which makes wearable technology and activity tracks, carried out the study which found that people attending Glastonbury were likely to burn a whopping 3,400 calories. Per day.

Calculated over the three days, that works out to 10,200 calories lost over the weekend.

The ''exercise'', if you can call it that, comes from the usual mix of dancing, walking everywhere, running between stages and generally keeping on your feet all day.

It probably explains how you're able to put away any number of burgers, hot dogs, ice-creams and cans over the three days and come away feeling lighter.

We've no data on Irish festivals, however here's a rundown of some UK festivals and how many calories you're likely to burn:
