Forbidden Fruit comedy stage details

Interesting! For those of you who fancy a few days of comedy but can't make it down to Kilkenny Cat Laughs (tis a bit on the pricey side too), Forbidden Fruit are excited to announce the line-up today for their brand new Comedy Tent which they promise will be "bursting with fun, antics and maybe just an ounce of naughtiness!" Gotta love press release descriptions of comedy, eh? Taking place over the June Bank Holiday weekend which for some reason I think means guaranteed sunshine, while you shouldn't expect to find comedy's most amazing acts, there's certainly a lot more to be had than music at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.

Headliners on Saturday June 2nd come in the shape of Late Night Gimp Fight - an all-male sketch group that we at entertainment.ie have yet to encounter but are said to leave you feeling 'violated'. We'll certainly be enquiring about that. Heating things up before Saturday's headline act you can expect manic musings from one of our favourite Father Ted characters, Eoin Mc Love or Patrick McDonnell which I guess by now we should be referring to him as. Also supporting the gimps is a comedian who just doesn't get enough credit for how outrageously funny he actually is: John Colleary. One dozy look from thim and I promise you'll be laughing. A highlight on any comedy variety night Colleary is a comedian that by next we hope to see top of the bill. Aidan Bishop will be there too, hot on the heels of his hit show 'Misspelled'.

Sunday's highlight is Ardal O'Hanlon. Although he has indeed come along way since the days of Father Ted, there's not a single bio or mention of him out there that doesn't refer to it. Give him a break, he's funny as hell even without the Dougal jumpers. And quite rude at times too which initially, you don't expect. Ardal has had numerous television appearances and countless stand up gigs. His pal from the days of Ted will be joining him, Mr Joe Rooney. Another familiar face will on Sunday will be Republic of Telly's Bernard O'Shea, Kevin Gildea, Damon Blake, Brendan Burke, Tomie Jones, James Goldsbury and Mister Gerry Mallon who'll be working as MC.

Saving the best for last though, in our opinion, they've put Dead Cat Bounce on the Monday. Known internationally for their energetic and hilarious stage antics, their telly appearances and their sense of style. Joining the lads are another trio and favourite of entertainment.ie, sketch group Foil Arms and Hog. Receiving rave reviews left right and centre, you do not want to miss these guys. Another pal of ours is Jarlath Regan who'll be rocking the tent along with The Nualas' Sue Collins, Trevor Browne, Tommy Nicolson, Gerry McBride and the Laughter Lounge's resident MC, Steve Cummins.

So, no more moaning about missing out on Kilkenny now that the kind folk at Forbidden Fruit have brought the comedy to YOU! (That is, if you're in Dublin.)
