Foals will release their fourth album 'What Went Down' this August.

The Oxford five-piece return with the follow-up to 2013's 'Holy Fire' on August 28th, with the lead single of the same name being premiered on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show next Tuesday between 7 and 9pm.

The record was produced by James Ford and recorded in a 19th century mill in France. It explores lyrical themes of "cultural identity, generational anxiety, cynicism, pessimism and heartbreak" - or according to songwriter and frontman Yannis Philippakis,  “I wanted to tap into my inner madman and feel like I was channeling some sort of fevered creature”.

A brief trailer for the album can be watched below, and the tracklisting is as follows:

What Went Down // Mountain At My Gates // Birch Tree // Give It All // Albatross // Snake Oil // Night Swimmers // London Thunder // Lonely Hunter // A Knife In The Ocean
