Kasabian and Florence and The Machine have been installed by the bookmakers as the early favourites to claim the coveted Mercury Prize, after nominations were announced yesterday. Both have been given odds of 5/1, while Bat For Lashes, Glasvegas and La Roux hover slightly behind with odds of 6/1.
Our own Lisa Hannigan is placed somewhere in the middle with odds of 8/1. The Invisible, Sweet Billy Pilgrim and Led Bib (the token obscure choices) are very much the outsiders, so those of you brave enough to gamble on them will be faced with odds of 10/1.
