Florence Welch will make an appearance on Irish shores this summer - but not for a gig.

Instead, the Florence + the Machine frontwoman will appear alongside the likes of Mary Robinson, Roddy Doyle, Stephen Rea and a whole host of names from the literary, comedy and entertainment worlds at the Borris Festival of Writing and Ideas.

It takes place in the village of Borris, Co. Carlow from June 9th - 11th, where over 70 fiction writers, historians, journalists, broadcasters, photographers, war correspondents and musicians will converge for a weekend of discussion and dialogues.

The festival has a reputation for attracting big names, as PJ Harvey and Chrissie Hynde previously appeared at the event.

Welch will appear to talk about her 'Florence Welch's Book Club', which is managed by Dubliner Leah Moloney and friends, who will select a summer book choice and discuss it.
