Hermitage Green have been around for several years now, so chances are that you'll be aware of the Limerick five-piece, who they are and what they do.

Since they've just inked a deal with Sony Music Ireland, we decided now was the perfect time to catch up with the band to find out their favourite albums - and one or two of their choices may surprise you.

The band release their new single 'Jenny' on June 5th, with a full-length album to follow later in the year. They're also touring nationwide over the next few weeks, so make sure to check out their website to see when and where they're playing near you.

BARRY MURPHY (vocals, bass): Van Morrison - 'Astral Weeks'

"One of the most timeless and unique albums I've ever heard. His lyrics are thought-provoking and inspiring, and each song brings me somewhere different with each and every listen."

DARRAGH GRAHAM (banjo, djembe): Paul Simon - 'Graceland'

"One of my first albums. I love the concept of his concert in Zimbabwe. I love the African influences within the album, giving it a different sound."

DAN MURPHY (vocals, guitar, dobro): System of a Down - 'Toxicity'

"It’s a masterclass in dynamic. Regardless of how heavy it is, the arrangements of songs are incredible - in particular their attention to grooves, rhythm changes, harmonies and downright hooky melodies. Any musician could take something from this album."

DARRAGH GRIFFIN (vocals, guitar): John Martyn - 'Solid Air'

"Initially it was because his guitar playing really appealed to me, but the more I listened to it the more the ambiance of the album grabbed me - especially songs like 'Go Down Easy' and 'Solid Air'.

DERMOT SHEEDY (bodhrán): Moving Hearts - 'The Storm'

"The arrangement of the tunes and sound of the album was like nothing I'd ever heard before. It still stands the test of time for me as one of the most evocative albums I've ever listened to."
