It's hard to believe that Eminem's 'Stan' is 15 years old, but the song's longevity has just been given extra credentials after

Undoubtedly one of the Detroit rapper's best-known songs, the track - taken from his second album 'The Marshall Mathers LP' - told the story of an obsessive fan who goes to great (eventually murderous) lengths to get Eminem's attention.

Now, the term 'Stan' has been included in the Oxford English Dictionary as both a noun ('An overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity') and a verb ('To be an overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity").

The origin of the word is listed as: "Early 21st century: probably with allusion to the 2000 song “Stan” by the American rapper Eminem, about an obsessed fan."

As Billboard points out, it's not the first rap/r'n'b related word to be included in the OED: everything from Beyoncé's 'Bootylicious' to Drake's 'YOLO' and Kanye's 'cray' have made the cut.
