We first heard rumblings of a second Slane concert next summer as far back as October and, lo and behold, this morning those rumours have proven to be true. For the first time in its long history, 2013 will see Slane host two concerts - with Eminem to headline the second show on August 17th.
Bon Jovi were revealed as the initial Slane headliners at the end of October - an announcement which divided music fans in this country - and now Lord Henry Mountcharles has made the bold decision to not just add more firepower to the first gig (we're expected support acts to be announced sooner rather than later), but to announce a whole new concert entirely.
Eminem was previously scheduled to play Slane in 2005 as part of his Anger Management European tour but pulled out one month before the concert, citing "exhaustion complicated by other factors", effectively cancelling the concert, and it would now appear that Mountcharles and the rapper have buried the hatchet.
Tickets for Eminem's Slane performance will go on sale at 9am next Wednesday and are priced at €79.50.
