There's a whole lot more to Electric Picnic than just music. MindField, a hive of spoken word, debate, theatre, lecture and traditionally one of the most talked about parts of all of Electric Picnic, is back once again. Among this year's notables includes Bob Geldof in the Leviathan tent (not to be missed), Booker Prize winners John Banville and Roddy Doyle on the Arts Council Literary State, Nobel Laureate Jerry White on surviving landmines.
The Theatre Stage will be curated by incoming Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival director Willie White, RTE's Sean O'Rourke will host the MindField News Quiz, London rapper Kate Tempest will speak her mind in the Word Tent and the Science Gallery will be presenting a constellation of eye-popping experiments.
As per usual, the Leviathan debates will be hosted by economist and broadcaster David McWilliams. Themes to be included this year include "I Predict A Riot: Economic Violence and Civil Unrest", with panellists Luke 'Ming' Flanagan TD and more.
Others scheduled to appear on the various stages and tents within MindField include: Irvine Welsh, Paul Howard, Miriam O'Callaghan, Michael D. Higgins and, well, the Hardy Bucks.
