Guy Garvey and Elbow will be taking most of 2013 off. Garvey informed the audience at an Elbow concert in Nottingham earlier this week that his band will be taking a "gap year". Earlier this year the Manchester band celebrated their 20th anniversary together and will spend the majority of next year working on material for a new album.

Speaking to The Sun, Garvey said: "We've got our arena tour this November and December, which will be like a farewell party. We've already done six songs for the next album, then we'll come back to finish it next year."

As well as a potential new album, Garvey will also spend time next year working on a new stage musical adaptation of King Kong with Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja.

"AS soon as the tour ends I'm off to New York for six months. Where better to write songs for a King Kong musical than the place it's set?"
