If you've seen 8 Mile, you'll be aware that it documents what was a pretty harrowing childhood for Marshall Mathers, the kid who went on to become one of the biggest rappers of all time, Eminem.

The film depicted Eminem's life growing up on the notorious 8 Mile Road in Detroit, and it certainly wasn't a bed of roses.

One musician who wants to follow in his footsteps, however, is Ed Sheeran.

The star has spoken of his desire to star in and write the soundtrack for a 'musical rom-com', but now it seems that his plans have changed and he wants the film to be about his own life.

The biopic would feature more songs about his hometown of Ipswich, and Q magazine reports that he has held meetings with movie people since his Glastonbury headline set.

He told the magazine: "I want to have an 8 Mile moment but 8 Mile meets Notting Hill. Not gritty like Detroit, but, like, Ipswich. I’ve got loads of songs about Ipswich that haven’t come out so I could make a soundtrack.”
