There we were, assuming that every song on Taylor Swift's new album was either about her ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris or her current love, Joe Alwyn.

Well, we may be right on that count - but it seems that some fans surmised that one particular track, 'Dress', was about her friend and former touring mate, Ed Sheeran.

The song's lyrics have lines like "I don’t want you like a best friend" and "There is an indentation in the shape of you / Made your mark on me, a golden tattoo" which some speculated may be references to Sheeran's hit song 'Shape of You' and his many tattoos.

However, the ginger singer has dispelled all notions of the song being about him in a new interview that was livestreamed on Instagram yesterday. "I don’t think it is," he said. "I think if you read into it… it’s not… you know, because she mentions someone with a buzzcut haircut, and I’ve never had a buzzcut haircut.”

So now you know. On with your day...
