Sounds like someone's ego is a little bruised to us, or why would he even mention it at all?

The saga of Ed Sheeran's very conspicuous cameo in the first episode of the new season of 'Game of Thrones' is the gift that keeps on giving.

Sheeran took to Instagram this evening to clarify that his Twitter account deletion (and later re-activation by his team) was not a response to the vast majority of people hating on his cameo but something that he was "always intending" to do.

"Last i'll say on this." his post began. " I came off Twitter Coz I was always intending to come off Twitter, had nothing to do with what people said about my game of thrones cameo, because I am in game of thrones, why the hell would I worry what people thought about that. It's clearly fuckin' awesome."

"Timing was just a coincidence, but believe what you want. Here is an unrelated picture of me and my wonderful manager riding off into the sunset together"

Timing's a little convenient though, don't you think? The Lannister doth protest too much, wethinks...
